Arlo is launching this app based version, and I only use my laptop. How to remove it? Hate it!!

This Arlo secure plan/secure app is the worst thing for me. I've tried working with it for the past day, and I really hate the presentation of this product. It does not work well on my PC/laptop. It's very cumbersome, and there is no way to reach Arlo to tell them I don't like it, and give me my "old" screens. Any thoughts? Thanks!!

Once you are updated to the new user interface there is no way to revert back to the old one. You can either use the app on your cellular device or use my.arlo.com to use your Arlo cameras. If you have any questions, we in the community would be more than happy to help.

I did not update to this, I logged in to look at my camera and there it was. I cannot "see" what has been viewed from a previous log-in, and I have to keep track of the time I last viewed the feed. This was such a nice simple product and now it's not at all friendly. I'm trying, but I guess I need to keep my time log. So disappointed. Thanks.

Arlo is (slowly) migrating everyone to the new interface. Once that is finished, they will drop the old one.

Not sure what you mean here, can you clarify? I was migrated to the new interface back in 2023, so my recollection of some of the details in the old user interface are getting a bit hazy. Are you talking about the thumbnails?

In the old version I viewed my recordings in the library. I would star the last viewed recording making it easy to see where I left off. I could also see starred (favorites) with the stars at a glance. I'm so disappointed in this upgrade. Again I don't keep this app on my phone, I view from my laptop. Again, so disappointed. This product was so perfect for me as it was.

Ok, that explains it.
The app still lets you tag a video as favorite, but gives you no way to see which ones you've tagged. No idea why that is, but I agree it makes that feature useless. I am tagging the mods ( @BrookeN , @JamesC , @ShayneS ) so they can follow up.
More directly, it would be useful if the app showed you which videos have already been viewed, so you wouldn't need to use the favorite tag as a bookmark.
Are there other specific things that you can't do now? (Some of them might still be there, but require some different steps).

Other than not "seeing" flagged favorites to track where I left off, and seeing those favorites at a quick glance I think I could work with this new app roll-out. (It would have been nice to get some warning of this change!). Thank you for your attention.

I have reached out to our development team and let them know about this feature request. I will update the community with any updates if/when they implement this feature into the new UI.

@Sally1 I just talked to the team and they did state that it would be a feature in the near future.

In addition to not seeing where I left off in viewing my videos I now find I cannot take snapshots from this new app, or record on demand as I used to do in the previous version. Thanks for your help!!

Are you starting the stream from the dashboard? Or are you starting it from the devices screen?
I am seeing that issue when using the dashboard widget - all the controls (including stopping playback) are missing once I start the livestream.
But I am seeing the usual controls when I start the stream from the devices screen.

The dashboard does nothing for me. I go to the feeds to screen thru captured videos. I used the screen shot when I change the battery to make sure I put the camera back in the same position. I just changed the battery and for some reason I did find the snapshot button, and the record on demand button. Unfortunately when these snap shots are taken you cannot screen thru them as part of the feed view. Again, I use this on my laptop not a phone. Thanks again for the input.

I do see manual recordings and snapshots in my feed. You might try clicking on "event types" (underneath the calendar on the right of the screen) and make sure "Manual" is selected. Or just deselect all event types and then select them all.

Yes. I did check the feature using Edge before my earlier reply. That is where I found there were no recording controls when I used the dashboard widget. I'm not seeing that in the app.

In the "old" version that worked so well for me I used those snap shots to help me position my camera when changing the battery. I was able to flip thru them side to side to ensure the correct position of my camera. Oh well, things change. Thank you for your help.

App version 6.15 is a bit better, but the feature is still IMO broken. With 6.15 I can filter the Feed to see only favorites, but the Favorite (*) tag really should be visible on the feed itself. IMO still not very useful because generally people want to see favorites mixed in with regular videos. And it doesn't cover @Sally1's use case where she wants to use that tag as bookmark.

So, there is still no resolution to this issue? I've been using post-it notes on my laptop to keep track of where I stop viewing my events. Now I find while viewing events Arlo will go into a coma and I have to log out and log back in to continue viewing events, or course I need to write down on my post-it note when it went into a coma so I know where to return to. I also find that as I view events from my feeds if new events happen during this viewing they are not part of the feed and I need to go to "view live camera". I cannot believe the evolution of this product seems to go backwards. Got to run and get a new post-it note....

Indeed, I've mentioned before on here that there's no way of telling which videos you've watched or which you haven't. Users resorting to post-it notes tells me that there are significant shortcomings in the area. In fact, the whole implementation of viewing recordings is very primitive. Maybe that was acceptable in the 90s - when computing systems were in their infancy - but definitely not now.
