I have both the arlo wire free and the arlo pro wire free systems at my second home.

This morning I logged into my account and noticed that the arlo cameras were accessable while the arlo pro cameras all showed a message that the cameras had to warm up before I could use it.

The cameras are located in TN. Outside temp 21 degrees fahrenheit and it is 24 hours after a snow fall of 1 to 2 inches.

Thought that those who were considering the two systems would want to know.

I would contact Netgear Support  re the Pro camera....

21F is to high a temp for the camera to go off-line due to cold.  Specs show the camera good to -4F AND myself and others have teseted same to find the cut off is just about -4F  ( put mine in the freezer for hours )  (( tho one ohter user did report his went off line at about 10F ))

Right now here in NY, the temp is sitting ( shaded area ) at 15F and all is good with the Pro....we had the same storm you did I guess with 10 " snow.

As a PS, yes, the Arlo cameras with li-ion cells for me were fine down to -10F ( as low as I ever got )

I agree that the conditions shouldn't have taken them offline.

However, it did occur with all of my pro cameras (vs. just one).

I find it hard to believe that all the cameras would act that way if it wasn't within the design.

They are all showing operational again (but it's been 4 hours since I last checked).

I will say that I like the features of the camers but between the inability to charge the battery outside of the camera (as the charging unit to do that has been delayed several times) and now the fact that the pros are offline when the older arlo cameras are not, I'm thinking that Netgear may have rushed the release and should have spent that time doing more testing and waiting for suppliers to be able to supply the chargers.

If I had to buy today, knowing all of this, I would not have purchased the pro cameras.

Since it was all cameras, maybe a glitch in the base for some reason... If you see it again, I would try a simple power button reboot of the base.

BTW, by design the batteries will not charge if below 32F i believe ( bad for cells )...but it did surprize me the the camera shut down at -4F too.

Thanks for the info Paul.... btw you do know -20c is the same as -4F   🙂

The whole thing will tell if it gets colder... 2 cameras teste so far went out right at -4F, but I guess there are some +/- in any units.

Tom,

Local temperatures are a little milder these days........only down to -12c last night and not expected to get any lower for a few more days.

We had a few nights with readings around -20c but typically that would only last for a short time. As we get closer to mid-late January there will be more of -20 -25c experiences. Hopefully not too many!

It will be interesting to see how the Pro reacts to that, but I do know the original model did ok last winter.
