I am not sure about traveling  cross country with the two camera's to watch my RV while my  pups are inside & to use as back up camera-

My question is does the base unit stay at my home connected to  my  internet connection & all works through my verizon cell phone plan?

thank you in advance

Nope, base station provide a wifi network for the cameras, so they must be within 50meters of basestation.

They do not have the best range.....

You could take the base station and cameras in your RV. The base station will need constant power and you'd need a range extender that connects to a a wifi hotspot from another cell phone, but that cell phone would need to stay in the RV the whole time

That's why I said you'll need a range extender

Something like this would work just fine. The base station plugs into its ethernet port. It connects to the phone's wifi hotspot
