After using the Arlo Pro for a week at the outside home fron door porch, I realize it is lacking a great feature from the Ring Pro, customizable motion detection zones.  In order to capture a persons face with a hat on, the camera has to be low enough, and now cars driving by in the street set off recording constantly.   I understand the Ring Pro allows to customize this detection range and zones to avoid those false alarms.  Turning down the motion detection sensitivity on Arlo Pro to avoid those false alarms creates an even larger delay on when recording starts when someone approaches.  Don't want to sacrafice sensitivity where it is needed.

Not very happy with this, and thinking or returning Arlo Pro for Ring Pro, unless someone can help me understand a better way to tweak Arlo, or inform me of a SW solution coming very soon to allow this custom zone detection in the Pro.

The Pro uses a dual PIR device to sense motion so I don't believe you'll see a zone sense coming in SW.

As to capturing what you what and avoiding false triggers, placement of the camera is one of the key factors.

bg94,

Finding the best conditions and placement for your Arlo cameras may take some trial and error. Take a look at this article for tips on how to position your camera for best performance: How do I position my Arlo Wire-Free or Arlo Pro Wire-Free camera?
