I like the addition of the local storage option with the Arlo Pro. If the Wifi is down (power outage, internet outage, cut by burglars, disconnected by someone with knowledge of the system, etc) does the Pro have a backup way to transmit the video feed to the local storage at the base station? If not, unfortunately, the whole system is ineffective the second some cuts the power or internet. Base station battery power backup is essential as well.

If you run the Base station (and router, cable modem ) on a UPS, then yes, all will still work as planned... the Local record is to the cloud and card at same time if internet drops it still goes to card.

IF someone rips all out out of the wall and the ups is good then you'll have a recording to the card....

Thanks Tom. That's great to hear. What technology is used to transmit the data from the camera to the base station without internet? Bluetooth, Zigbee, RF? Thanks.

Just regular local point-to-point WiFi. You only need Internet to upload to the Internet.

To be clear, it's point to point WiFi between the camera and the base, not you home WiFi.

is there a way to ONLY store locally for specific cameras, and then have the others work as normal (with the cloud)? that would immensely helpful, especially for privacy issues/concerns. it would be a much better customer experience to have this feature.

No. ANy camera connected to a Pro base with local recording enabled will be recorded both locally and in the cloud.
