Arlo Pro Motion Detection issue

Hopefully someone can help.  I have just installed the Arlo Pro units.  I have one camera outside my driveway, It was set to motion of 80 (default), and it was picking up cars driving by.  I moved it to 50% and then it was picking up motion too late and you would miss people walking up my driveway.  I then tried 55 and it is also missing stuff.  Basically it seems to start recording too late and I miss most of whatever triggered the motion.  Also, the email I get that tells me motion has been detected, shows an OLD photo and not a photo of what just happened.  How do I fix this? Whats a good motion setting? I just moved it to 60 but not sure if that will be any better.

Motion detection works best when motion is from side to side, not directly at the camera.  Check out the FAQs here for specific instructions.  It's trial and error to get positioning and sensitivity set where you need it.  ALso, don't try to get a large view - focus on the actual area of interest by rotating down.

My wife wanted to get a view of the entire driveway and the street in front. This morning, we had someone walk up the driveway.  it only triggered motion when they were almost right at the camera.  Should it not have started recording when they got to the bottom of the driveway? My wife wanted the camera positioned so she could also see her car which is parked across th street in a parking lot in our development.

The PRO has a max sense for people to about 25ft...

It will pick up cars farther away as they are big reflectors of IR ( which is how it detect motion ) .

Cover your walkway if that is more important with movenment being accross the FOV... the car across the street, prob not good due to to many false triggers from traffic

That being the case, is 80 the number to keep the unit on? or is there a better number? I really just want to get the entire driveway and the street right in front? WHen I had it on 80, it was picking up whatI wanted BUT also cars driving by that I do not want.  I moved it to 60 this morning and not sure if that is good...

the higher the number the MORE sensitive... Set it 2 points up ( slowly ) at a time and test for a day to see if it's working well... increase until you start getting a lot of false triggers and then back it down a bit.

You just have to eliminate the roadway and cars going by if more concerned with the walkway...

Change angle down a bit or re-locate it so you driveway is across the fiels of view

Post a snapshot for better suggustions

Most of mine run in the 88% to 92 % sense ( 12 cams )

The default that comes preset is 80%.  Are you saying you increased the motion and do not get false positives? I moved mine down to 50% then 60%.  Both of those settings missed parts of people walking up my driveway.  Only when they got close, did it work.  In fact, this morning, my wife drove her car into the driveway and NOTHING was picked up.  It didnt even pick up when she got out of the car etc.

 Also, I was parked there this morning (camera set on 50%) and when I left, NOTHING was picked up....Im on 75% now.

iv enow switched to 88% and its now picking up much faster.  I need to see what happens when someone walks up or down the driveway.  It is picking up cars in the street so I asume I will need to adjust the camera so that it doesnt see much of the street (alhough this is what my wife wanted).

So I am on 91% motion and when I came home and drove into the driveway, it didn't pick that up. Wheb my wife pulled out of the driveway, it didn't pick her up. There isn't a place I can put the camera so the driveway would make whatever enters or exits move side to side. Any idea what to do?

Exactly.........camera looks too centred and motion is directed towards it. By moving camera, even a few feet to either side and slightly adjusting its angle would certainly make it more effective. Works for me.........

I moved it from center to the left. It's still on 90%.

I assume that means you haven't tested or had a recording since then?  Or are you still having an issue?

No recording yet.  I will see what happens today and update this post.  Here is an updated photo.  I moved it as far as I could (There is no other place to mount unless I drill into stone)

OK so now it picks up when someone walks to the car, however, it does not pickup when the car leaves or enters the driveway.  Any way to fix this? Im on 91% on the motion setting...

The reposition just isn't enough. Try an outdoor threaded mount with extensions so you can use that position but be able to twist it mostly to the left and down. That would allow the driveway to more or less fill the view and motion would be far more side to side for better detection.

Without seeing the front of the house, we're limited in making suggestions. A thought, though, could be to mount from the soffit rather than siding.

It still looks like camera is pointing too straight out to middle of driveway. May need to angle its view slightly to its left, closer to passenger side of car. Try a gradual angle shift till you get it right.
