Neither of the two cameras will connect to the base station, both just slow flash the blue light until eventually timing out and doing a fast orange flash. I have tried:

1. Resetting the base station

2. Moving the base station as far as possible from the wireless router

3. Changing the batteries between the cameras

4. Used the website instead of the iphone app

The base station is set up correctly, I can see it in both the website and the iphone app. I updated the firmware before and after resetting the device, which did not help.

The usual problem is holding the sync button on the base too long. Just use a brief press - don't hold it.

That was suggested in another thread, I have already tried that and it did not work.

You mentioned resetting the base - did you mean you power cycled the base or you used the reset button until the LEDs flashed amber?  If the former, try the latter.

I tried both power cycling the base and resetting it using the reset button. I returned the arlo to amazon and received a replacement, which seems to have the same defect as the previous one. My suspicion is that because I live in an apartment building there is too much wifi interference (i have seen reports of this elsewhere on this forum).

I'll be returning this second set of cameras (most likely) and perhaps once the bugs are worked out I'll re-evaluate the arlo, but if you have any other suggestions in the meantime I'm happy to try whatever solutions you might have.

Interference would be tough to overcome. I'm not sure that's the issue but you could try taking the system to another location with just a home WiFi and see if you can set it up then.
