Hi there,

I had this question that I imagine to be true, but couldn't find any answer to it. Having one of the cameras configured to detect audio besides motion, should consume more battery than only motion, right? I think that because the PIR would be a low-consumption component and plus that, the mic would have to be listening for audio all the time.

Can anybody confirm if this is true? I'd like to know to streamline the configuration of my set-up and save as most battery as possible with my cameras.

Thanks.

I would also agree that using the PIR and MIC would increase your battery consumption... but My educated guess is that we are talking very little ma of consumption to do so ... and in the real world would be a small factor as to battery life. ( and you may not even see a diff )

More important in battery life is live viewing/recording and the IR illuminators in amount of usage.

Thanks for your reply Tom! I guess I will try a full run of the batteries without audio detection and then another with it, to compare (the set-up is brand new).

On a side note, I realized that sensitivity "2" and above for the audio detection kicks in pretty much with any regular talk at 10 feet height. My idea is to set them on 1 (which never triggered in my "screaming tests"), but hoping that it would get triggered if the camera is knocked down by a rock or something and, in consecuence, start the siren. Do you see that as a good idea?

Thanks!
