How do I connect to the base station?

I had several gen 4 cameras, and recently just bought additional gen 6 cameras. My gen 4 cameras were connected to the VMB4500 base station. I am trying to do the same with the gen 6 cameras. I don’t see a way to connect them to the base station. It’s connecting directly to the wifi right now.

1. Are these compatible?

2. What are the benefits of using the base station vs direct wifi? I heard the base station is more secure for your data and saves battery life of the cameras. Not sure if that’s all true.

Here are some potential benefits of connecting a Pro 6 camera (VMC4070/VMC4072) to an Arlo SmartHub or Base Station, depending on your need of course. 

Separate Secure Network: The camera communicates on a dedicated frequency rather than your home Wi-Fi, which is especially helpful on shared or congested networks.

Local Storage:  You can store recordings on a microSD card (VMB5000) or USB drive (VMB4540/VMB4500/VMB4000) as a backup or primary storage if you don't have an Arlo Secure subscription.

Local 2K Live streaming:  When on the same local network as the SmartHub/Base Station, you can stream in higher quality (2K) in real time. More details: How do I stream in 2K with my Pro Security Camera 2K (6th Gen)?

Apple Home Compatibility: The Pro 6 can integrate with Apple Home for voice control, but only when connected to a SmartHub or Base Station.

Ability to have Continuous Video Recording (CVR): Enables 24/7 recording so you never miss anything (requires a compatible SmartHub/Base Station and subscription.

The Pro 6 is compatible with the VMB5000 and VMB4540 SmartHubs, as well as the VMB4500 and VMB4000 Base Stations.

Low Power Mode: The Pro 6 supports Low Power Mode (takes snapshots instead of video when battery is low), and when connected to a SmartHub, the overall power management is more efficient. (What is Low Power Mode?)
