I have been on phone for hours with customer service. 3 different people. I have pro5 s cameras connected to vmb5000. They record on micro sd card. I can see them on the app. But when I am away from home I cannot access them. They are not on WiFi but connected just to hub. I do not have a monthly plan. Don’t want one. Just trying to get access to recordings when I am not home on iPad and smart phone. Please help me. So tired of this on the phone for hours.

    That is the problem then.

You forward the ports to the smarthub - that is where the recordings are stored.  The local IP of your smarthub is shown in the app when you enable forwarding.  So you forward UDP and TCP protocols for the port shown in the app to the local IP address (also shown in the app).  When that is done, you can confirm that the port is open using https://canyouseeme.org/

It is good to also reserve the IP address of the smarthub in your router, in order to be sure that the IP address won't change (which could happen after a power failure or even if the router and base are rebooted).  If you can't see how to do that, then post the router manufacturer and model, and I'll see if I can find a link to the manual.

I enabled port forwarding in the app. I do not know how to set up in router. If my cameras are connected to the hub and not WiFi I am not sure how to do this. Customer service at arlo has not given me any help. Just keeps sending me to another person.

You need to either to set up on of these in your router:

  • port forwarding
  • a VPN server

Which of these have you tried to set up?
