I currently have four Pro 2 cameras, an audio doorbell and a (internal) chime connected to a VMB4000r3 base station, and am thinking about upgrading all of my cameras to Pro 5 cameras given that the Pro 2 cameras are no longer supported and so that I can buy compatible solar panels for the three cameras that are mounted outdoors.

I'm assuming that the advice I've seen on the Pro 5 cameras being compatible with the VMB4000r3 base station is correct?

I am happy with the free 7-day cloud storage, currently use audio detection on some of the cameras in some modes, and I also use geofencing to automatically change the mode when I leave/return home.

I've done a little bit of reading up and there seems to be conflicting information out there about whether all of these features (free 7-day cloud storage, audio detection and geofencing) will still be available when I upgrade my cameras to Pro 5 cameras. Can anyone give me a definitive answer?

Your 7 day free storage will definitely be lost as Pro 5 doesn't offer it.

Furthermore, you'd require to buy a new hub in order to take advantage of local storage, I.e. to save clips locally and to view them on your phone (with limitations).

Unless you buy a subscription with Pro 5, in which case you don't need to worry about using the current base station, or getting a new one.

Audio detection will work, but I'm not sure if geofencing is working ok on the new app, as since you're thinking of Pro 5, you'll require to update your user experience.

However, you may wish to read up on that more. In a nutshell and to put it mildly: the new user experience isn't as polished as it should be.

My personal, somewhat subjective, view is that you should look at competition if you wish to upgrade, more specifically like-for-like Eufy.
