Pro 5S mounted on exterior building to video cars coming up long driveway. With maximum motion detection, the camera won’t video the car until it is about 15-20’ away and then jerkingly…My OLD Arlo Q mounted inside a window could pick up a car coming up the driveway at 100’ feet away. My other problems is that with the 5S, when I play back a video and hit the arrow, it takes about 3-5 seconds to start. With my Arlo 2, 3 and Q, the video starts immediately. My base unit is a VMB4000

Bostonfan49,

1.) It sounds like you may be using a filter within your feed. If only half of your videos are showing in the feed, check your filter settings to be sure that all devices are selected. You can find more information about how to do this here: https://kb.arlo.com/000062807/How-do-I-filter-events-and-video-recordings-in-my-Arlo-Feed

2.) Person, Vehicle, Animal etc. are Smart notification selections. Toggling these on or off will enable or suppress push notifications for these types of events but it's important to note that you will continue to receive recordings for these events if the cameras are armed as the smart toggles only change the behavior for push notifications (not recordings).

3.) Where are you seeing this message? If you log out of the app and log back in, do you still see the same behavior? In any case, if the base station is still working along with the cameras associated with that base station it would see the UI is simply displaying cached or stale information.

Bostonfan49,

Arlo wire-free cameras are most effective when detecting motion between 5 and 20 feet from the camera. This is due to the PIR sensor technology in the camera. Arlo Q cameras use pixel-based motion detection which behaves a bit differently. You can read more about this here: https://kb.arlo.com/583/How-does-the-motion-detection-feature-work-on-my-Arlo-cameras

A slight delay to connect (3-5 seconds as you describe) is normal behavior when initiating a live stream. These times can sometimes be improved by making sure the camera is positioned in a location with little to no interference (physical or other WiFi devices) and ensuring the signal strength is full for the camera.

Thanks to the previous reply..(understood!)

I have 3 areas of interest and I wonder if they are all attributed to a recent update to my Cameras and Base Stations, the same at Both locations. The first has to do with the total number of videos taken in the Feed Icon. Prior to the latest update, if I had say, 50 videos in the Feed Icon, that would contain ALL the videos and I could erase them and have Zero videos in the Arlo app. But now, if I have 50 videos, maybe 1/2 show up in the Feed Icon which I then erase, but the other half show up in individual cameras as an event, and I have to manually erase them all one at a time…The second concern has to do with "Motion" I have MOTION turned off ( in Event Types ) "only" Person, Vehicle or Animal selected but my Arlo Q, Arlo 2, 3 and 5S keep picking up Motion events when there are none. Every camera has Motion turned off and the motion slider set at the lowest…1 The last concern is, I have the message that one of my base stations is "Disabled" and will not respond to Mode Changes, But it is on and is working fine other than the above notes. My other Base station does not have the disabled message but shares the above notes. Have rebooted both stations.
What’s up? Thanks, Bill
