I'm trying to upgrade from Arlo Pro 2 to Arlo Pro 5s.
It's been about a week now I'm trying to install or add the 5s cameras onto my App "without a Base Station or SmartHub". I've tried the 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz installing process. Both does not work. I cannot surpass the scan code part of the installation. I'm currently with Comcast internet provider at 1200mbps. My modem and router is set up as 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz compatibility. I'm also trying to speak to Arlo customer service in person but all I get is some customer service chatline that's pretending to chime in for a few minutes then stopped chatting back like they are disconnected.  Any loyal customers out there like me going through this bad experience with the new Arlo Pro camera installation? I think Arlo is forcing me to leave their brand and I already found some competitors out there.

Is the wifi network set to WPA2 (AES) security?

Also, if you have punctuation (or spaces) in the wifi network name or password, then try removing them.

You can also try installing using a PC (my.arlo.com) as that sometimes works then the phone app fails.  Disabling mobile data in the phone while onboarding sometimes also gets past the onboarding friction.

Another thing you can try is doing the hardware reset on the camera before onboarding.  Press the sync button until the camera flashed amber (about 15 seconds).

Yes. The wifi network is set to WPA2.

There are no punctuation or spaces in the wifi network name or password.

I've also tried holding down the button until the light flashes amber color.

I have tried installing using a web browser. How do I bypass the QR scan code? Am I supposed to use a webcam to scan the QR?

The Pro 5s scans the QR code (which contains the wifi credentials needed to join your network).

I attempted to connect with someone on the chat line for assistance with the installation steps, but nothing proved successful. I find the process of directly installing the camera to Wi-Fi excessively difficult. The average user may struggle to figure it out, leading to potential returns. This issue is exacerbated by the absence of Arlo's phone customer service. I can't help but think many customers have returned products without Arlo knowing the reasons. Unlike competitors like Ring, Arlo's camera installation could be much simpler. Personally, I'd be more open to installing cameras on the base station if dealing with just five, but managing three or more base stations becomes messy.
