24/7 monitoring and Direct Dispatch

I"m trying to better understand what 24/7 monitoring and direct dispatch services do?  We are trying to use arlo to monitor for late night thefts. If Arlo alarm is triggered by a person, will 24/7 monitoring folks confirm there is a person and dispatch a police response? Or does the system still rely on me waking up and dispatching police by tapping a button on the app? Simplisafe dispatches police directly, so we have been using that system so far.
