Why have a VMB 4540? And why buy the Arlo Pro 4?

After a few days of attempting to view motion detection videos from a VMB 4540 (USB Stick attached for storage), connected to the same WIFI network, and several motion detection messages...I still cannot see the videos on my Iphone 12 Arlo app.
I have a similar system at my cabin, but with the Arlo 2's. No subscription and I still get the motion detection alerts and can view the videos from anywhere on the same app.
Since purchasing Pro 4's and completing the Arlo trial period where they worked great...the "Arlo Funnel" keeps leading me right to the Arlo subscription page. At this point I am not willing to pay the 12 bucks a month.
Should have done my homework better I suppose. Should have found some old Arlo 2's I guess. These 4's aren't going to work like I expected. It shouldn't take 2 days of searching the internet to figure out that I purchased the wrong cameras and a base station that doesn't service a purpose for me.
Support - Please send me a link to review the products. I'd like to share my experience.

That is because the Pro 2 cameras were sold with 7 days of free cloud storage. The Pro 4 cameras (like all currently sold Arlo cameras ) don't have that.

Are you getting an error message? Or are you just unable to find the recordings?
Also, do you see "Feed" and "Dashboard" on the app screen? Or do you see "Library" instead?
