local recording not showing in Arlo secure app.   Not sure about usb stick due to reformat in most recent troubleshooting.

Have one base station vmb4540r3, 6 pro4 cameras, and two Arlo baby cameras. Pro4 kits purchased at Costco and put into service about June 15, 2022. pro4’s supposedly paired with 1 base station at setup.  256gb thumb drive formatted via app. All firmwares and apps updated as of 7/24/22. Using iOS.  Have spouse as user on the pros and base station.  Baby cams are hers and shared with me. Base station and network on battery backup.

cloud services normal: cloud library, camera triggers, notifications, recordings etc appear normal.

local recording active. Direct access active. All devices on same home network.

on 3 month trial.

used the system for a couple weeks starting mid June.  Noticed the local recordings apparently missing when switching to the base station in the library. Noticed 15gb on usb stick within app, checked it on computer. Files intact. Went through an exercise I can’t remember now: presumably variously ejecting, formatting, rebooting devices and got it working. Fast forward to today, I log in and notice zero clips stored locally, dig deeper and it appears it quit storing after 20 days or so on 7/15/22 for no clear reason. App shows local storage at 15gb.

go through analysis paralysis trying to get it started again, incl formatting usb stick while inserted in base station.

1) why did it stop recording locally?  That’s what I need when the crook cuts the cable internet coming to the house…

2) Why isn’t this working out of the box?  I’ve gone through the various community pages and support pages.  Tried the filter-select all devices. Eject usb, reboot, hard reboot, etc, but this seems like buggy software and I don’t want to have to be constantly checking status, let alone rebooting, ejecting, formatting.  Seems like this issue creeps up once or so per year and/or with new software/hardware releases.

i suppose I could dig out the second base station that came with the Costco 3 camera packs and see if it’s that, but what a waste having to reprogram/re-pair everything.

Suggestions welcome m

There has been a spate of recent complaints about this. However, we can't rule out hardware so try a different USB drive to see if there's a difference.

Thank you for the reply.

I checked back into the system the next day, and after the reboot; eject/reinsert; and the formatting of the usb drive, the system had started mirroring local recorded video copies onto the usb drive (proper function).

At your suggestion, today I swapped in and formatted a different model 256GB flash drive (same brand though).  Both are usb 3.0 sandisk flash drives purchased with fast read-write speeds (better quality) in mind.

Will monitor, since I am not able to deliberately recreate the fault.  I have no idea why the system stopped local recording after a couple weeks in the first instance.  The setup for starting local recording went correctly, including formatting using the base station.

Just for the record (my expectations), checking the system frequently to see if local copies are indeed being made is unacceptable, as this is a basic function I expected out of the box.  Nor would I find it acceptable if I found the recordings missing to have to go in and fiddle with rebooting/ejecting/formatting to resume the local recording over and over again.

I am willing to go through the exercise of this possibly being a usb hardware issue for now and will report back.  My costco return window closes September 15, so I only have about 6 weeks to find resolution to this, or back they go!
