How does the VMA1001 outdoor mount connect to the Pro 4 camera?

It screws into a threaded slot in the back of the housing. Note the camera uses a standard thread, so almost any camera mount will work.

Perhaps I don’t understand, but there is no threaded slot for the size of the screw on the back of the Pro 4 housing. The screw on the mount is much smaller and is not secure. The Arlo site said these mounts will fit a Pro 4 camera but I am not certain. The camera housing is shown on the picture, the mount is on the right, and the provided mount is on the left. The screw sizes are different

This is what the back of a standard Pro 4 housing looks like:
You appear to have the "total security mount" variant.
If you want to use standard mounts you'll need to replace the housing.
