I watched the Arlo video on how to change a camera mode (from Home to Away, or v.v), but it says to hit a 3 dot icon to change it.  I don't see that 3 dot icon.  Is the video outdated, and they've changed something in the software?  I've got two cameras set as Home that I need to change to Away.  Any advice?

Are you using the old interface that uses Library to view recordings or the new one that uses Feed? The apps support both interfaces so it's not an app issue.

I'm using Feed.

Arm Home, Arm Away, Standby apply to all the cameras in the system.  When you switch to a new mode, then all the cameras with rules in that mode are armed, and all other cameras are disarmed.  So there is no way to "change the mode on a camera".  You change the mode for the entire system.

You change the mode on the dashboard screen by pressing the mode.  The mode shown in color is the currently active mode.

If you want to temporarily disarm a camera, the easiest way is to press the settings wheel for the camera on the devices tab, and then turn the camera off.

When we bought the beach house, I needed to be able to set cameras there vs at home.  I called Arlo and they initially told me that I would have to buy another base station and get a second subscription.  Basically two separate systems.  I had a Simplisafe system sitting in the garage, so I told the guy I'd just use that at the beach.  He then said something to the effect... hang on a minute.  Then he sat it up so that Arm Away activated the cameras at the beach and Arm Home activated the cameras here at home.  No idea how he did it, but it worked great.  However, I have since added cameras at both locations, and now it's messed up.  I need to figure out how to add a camera to Arm Home and how to add a camera to Arm Away.

Each mode has rules for the cameras that are armed when that mode is enabled. (If a rule is missing for a camera, then it is not armed when you are using that mode).  All three modes can be modified.

What he did was put rules for all the home cameras only in Arm Home, and similarly put rules for all the beach cameras only in Arm Away.  One disadvantage with what he did is that you cannot arm all the cameras at the same time.

When you added cameras, rules for them were added to Arm Away and Arm Home.  You can go into the modes yourself (selecting routines, and then modes), and then make the needed adjustments (deleting any beach camera rules in Arm Home, and deleting any home camera rules in Arm Away).

If you do sometimes want to arm all the cameras at both locations, then you can instead

  • modify Arm Away to arm all cameras
  • modify Arm Home to arm only the home cameras
  • modify Standby to arm only the beach cameras

If you do this, you can still go into the camera device settings and temporarily turn off a camera there.

How do I tell which cameras are associated with 'Arm Home' and which are associated with 'Arm Away'?  Or does that matter?  I need to figure out which ones are armed when I hit 'Arm Home' and which are activated when I hit 'Arm Away'.  But being in two different locations, is there a way to do that without physically being there?

Go to the routines page, and select modes. Then select "Arm Away" and you will see a list of "Device Rules". Cameras in that list are armed when the system is in that mode.  Cameras not in the list are disarmed. You can add and remove rules, so you can arm and set of cameras you like in that mode.

Do the same for "Arm Home" (and "Standby" if you wish).

FWIW, this info is in the KB article I linked in above (though it is worded differently).
