Has anyone successfully set up a VPN to connect to the Direct Storage Access?

I've been having a heck of a time getting answers on how the mobile app discovers the base station.  After running a PCAP, it looks like there are a ton of mDNS records that it publishes, and I have replicated them in my DNS setup, temporarily.

 

My setup right now - 

Router: MicroTik - RouterOS 7.x 

VPN - WireGuard - running on subnet: 192.168.80.0/24

VMB4540 - Directly Connected - Subnet: 192.168.88.0/24

 

I set up a standard route that uses the wireguard interface on the router as the gateway.  At this point, I'm stumped as to why I can't get to the base station even with all of the dns records published locally (and pointing to the right IP).
