I have finally solved my problems with geofencing that have dogged my system for years. Here is the solution. Buy cameras that allow open source access to home automation systems like Home Assistant. I decided on Reolink cameras. This company provides Home Assistant integration that then means you can integrate you cameras with other home automation products. Home Assistant also provides a variety of ways to determine if the users are home such as tracking your phone or checking to see if your phone is attached to the LAN by looking at the modem activity. It also means ALL your data can be stored and controlled in your home. The final step is to stop paying you Arlo subscription, since they don't actually provide a service that is reliable.
Over the last month, Arlo geofencing has failed me on three occasions, whereas my Home Assistant/ Reolink combination has never missed a beat.
