The VMb 4540 Stinks!!  Constantly loses connection. Unfortunately I’m not there to reset it, hence the purpose of a camera system. Watch while I am gone!!!

does the homebase VMV4540r2

suck all the time or do I have a bad one??

It may be a faulty hub - mine continues to work properly. What connection is lost - Internet or to any cameras? Is it all cameras or just some? When having an issue what is the hub's LED showing? WHat have you tried and what do you see?
