Arlo Secure not working

I used to have Blink cameras, easy peezy. House flooded, lost everything. Trying 1 Arlo Pro 4. Installed Arlo Secure. It sends me notifications...occasionally, via email. No Person notifications. Can't get Alexa or Google Nest to announce it, though they're linked and I have a subscription. Google search answers completely redundant and unhelpful. I'm not a tech idiot. I'd like to send the camera back. I mean, seriously? What am I doing wrong? I'm not sure I even want to know, I'm just going to go back to Blink...
