In order to set up Pro 4 which requires a 2.4GHz network, I set up separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks in our Apple Extremes.  We have 4 Airport Extremes, and I changed the configurations in all 4 of them to match.  I connected my iPhone to the 2.4GHz network, and then in the Arlo set up app I chose that 2.4GHz network.  I followed all the steps, including the QR chime, but in the last step I could not get any of the cameras to be recognized or "found."

I reset the cameras to factory settings and tried again, multiple times, getting close to the router, but alas, no luck.  The strangest thing is, I can tell that the cameras are listed in Airport Utility as "wireless clients" since the two wireless clients listed each have the name beginning with "VMC4040IP" which is the Pro 4 model number.  So they must have been recognized by the Airport Extremes, but are still not being found by the Arlo App.

I feel I am so close to getting the cameras to be found, but still so far!  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Thank you.

FYI, despite the warning in the instructions, I haven't had any trouble connecting cameras to my home network - which uses a single SSID for both 2.4 and 5 GHz.  Even when my phone is connected to the 5 GHz network
(which there is no way to prevent if you have a single SSID).  Though this might depend on the router - I happen to use an Orbi mesh system, not an Apple Extreme.

If you heard the chime, then the cameras are connected to your home wifi (and of course you did find them in the router device list).  Not sure why they can't be added to your account - you could try pressing the sync button and trying again I guess.  You might want to try support.  There is a link in the upper right of the forum page.

Thanks StephenB.  I tried pressing the sync button, as well as resetting the camera completely, but no luck.  I called support and spoke to someone for 35 minutes who tried to troubleshoot the issue, but he also couldn't figure it out.  So I'm now waiting for an Arlo support "expert" to get back to me with hopefully a solution.

I've had the same problem with each of the (3) Pro 4 cameras I've purchased - at different times - off of ebay. I also have a Pro 2 camera system with Smart Hub, and the only way I have been able to get them to be recognized is by connecting through the Smart Hub first instead of WIFI. So far I've gotten two of them to connect, and I'm still working on the third.....

That said, once the app recognized the two cameras and added them to my account, I was able to set them up for wifi use.

I wish I had a better solution! I know that doesn't help anyone who doesn't own a Smart Hub... Either way, I hope this helps!
