Hi - is there a way to rename the three available buttons in the app: arm away, arm home and standby to other names?

I don’t recall anyone being able to do this as it matches the three buttons on Arlo’s home security system. This is why custom modes were dropped in the new UI of the app in my opinion. I.e. Arlo’s new and improved experience.

No.  You can modify them, but not change their names.
