I have Arlo Pro3 cameras and a VMB4540 smarthub.  I have recently not been able to view my local recordings and have done everything (total reset, view local storage enabled, reformat usb, etc).  The only thing I can conclude is that the network the smarthub is on is different than my phone/app.  My phone is on my home wifi network, and the smarthub is a direct ethernet cable connection.  I assume it would be the same, but when i search for wifi networks, i see an ARLO_VMB_xxxx network.

So my question is, could it be possible my smarthub is pulling from a different wifi network than my phone and therefore not allowing me to view locally stored video feeds?  Also, how can i view network settings on my smarthub because it is not showing anywhere on my app what my network/wifi settings are?

That is a closed wifi network created by the smarthub.  It is only used by the cameras - to connect them to the smarthub.  It is not how the smarthub reaches the internet.

The smarthub itself is connected to the internet via the ethernet cable.  Have you changed any equipment on your network lately (changing routers, or changing the cabling)?

Thank you for the reply.  No i have not changed anything.  And just to make sure I removed all devices and reset my entire smarthub and cameras and re-connected them.  Still same issue when i click "feed" is has cloud or local tab, and i click local and it says no events.  And then under local storage settings it shows status as "good" and view recordings as enabled (note i do have port forwarding off because i dont care to access the videos when i am not home on my wifi network).  It seems like this all started when Arlo changed their service recently.

Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?

Hi @ericjohnson1313

Can you try ejecting the USB from the Smart Hub (make sure to click on safely eject local storage) under Local Storage settings. Then re-insert the USB and if prompted to reformat then do it. Then proceed to the steps below.

  1. Make sure phone is connected to the local wifi network as the Smart Hub. Turn off Mobile data to make sure.
  2. Verify that the Local Network is ON under Settings->Apps->Arlo Secure->Local Network - ON
  3. Navigate to Devices->VMB4540->Storage Settings->Record Locally - ON, Local Storage Settings->Storage Status is Good, View Recordings -should be toggled ON
  4. Then test/trigger a motion event to one of the cameras, make sure mode is Arm Away and cameras are added to the rules, you should hopefully see the motion icon turn amber and should receive a PN as well
  5. Check if the recording is saved to Feed->Local
