Bought a Pro3 camera since one of my Pro2’s was damaged. It works with base station but will not record. No icon in the app comes up on video image to record. Is the base station not compatible with this camera?

If you have a smarthub (VMB4540 or VMB5000), then direct access to local storage is one option. https://kb.arlo.com/000062337/What-is-Direct-Storage-Access-and-how-do-I-use-it
It has several limitations you should be aware of:
- No manual recordings
- no access in the web browser
- no access in friend accounts
- no thumbnails
- can be difficult to get access when away from home.
Since you don't have a smarthub, you'll need to eject the storage and connect it to a PC whenever you want to review the recordings.
Or pay for the subscription for the new camera ($2.99 per month in the US). A VMB4540 lists for ~$99, so the payback for upgrading is about 33 months. Given the reduced feature set, the subscription (IMO) is a better way to go.

It's compatible with the base (if that were not the case the camera wouldn't connect at all).
Cloud Storage with the Pro 3 (like all the cameras since the Ultra in 2018) requires a subscription. Perhaps check to see if your camera is in the trial subscription.
