First, see if you can reserve the 'internal ip address" you see in the app.  Most routers have a way to reserve an address (so it doesn't change).  That feature has several names, including "IP Reservation", "Mac Address Reservation", and "ARP binding").

Then forward the port you see in the app to that IP address.  You probably will see an option to forward TCP, UDP, or Both.  Selecting "Both" is safe.

Thanks for your answer. I want to forward it to my mobile phobe so i can see the stored videos on my mobile phone. Do I put in the ip address of my mobile phone?  I put a USB stick into the homebase so I could store the videos locally and can not see them any longer when I am not on the same WiFi network

No.  As I said above, you put in the "Internal IP Address" that you see on the storage settings page.  That is the local IP address of the smarthub.

Sorry to ask again,

On my router it asks the below questions. I have inputted the same ip address under the settings for my homebase in both boxes below "External host and internal host" and the number which was given for the external and internal port into the "External and internal port" boxes below.

Customer service name - I have just given this a random name

Protocol- I have chosen "TCP"

Service- I have chosen "OTHER"

External Port- I have put in the same IP address number which is shown on the Arlo app.

Internal port- Same IP address as above.

External host- I put in the same number for external and internal host which was shown on the arlo app.

Internal host- Same as above.

I have saved everything and it save but when I go into the app I am unable to see any of the locally stored videos. I am obviously doing something wrong, any advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Try both

Hopefully you meant to say you put in the port numbers shown in the Arlo app???

Take this out.  The phone will have different IP addresses, depending on where you are and what network the phone is connected to.

Also, the IP address shown in the app is not a routable internet address - it is a purely local IP address.  It is used by the smarthub - NEVER the phone.

This should be the IP address in the app.

As I said in the first post,  you should also reserve this IP address in your router settings.  You want make sure the base is always assigned this address by your router.  Otherwise there are some situations where the IP address assignment will change - one example of that is after a power failure.
