Hello:
I use Arlo Po 3 camera and have a base station and do local storage. With Arlo, you can access the videos in local storage while you are connected to your home WIFI. But, to access the videos stored in local storage while I am away from home, I need to set up port forwarding.
I have a new Xfinity modem now where I have VPN access. Question is, with VPN, can I do away with port forwarding and still access videos stored in locally while I am away from home?
Please help.
Thanks
Partha.

If your VPN allows you to access your home network when you are remote, then you can use that instead of port forwarding.
I have a Netgear Orbi router with OpenVPN - I can access local recordings on my iPhone while away (when that VPN is enabled on the phone).
