Hello everyone. I hope someone could help me. As of yesterday 1/5/25, my arlo app upgrade to the new one since I was force to change my plan due to the current increase. Before, when using the app, I could simply click on geofencing and it would take care of the changes, whenever I was home or out.

Now, I don't have that option anymore. Instead I have manual or automation. I have been trying to set up automation, and I can't get it to work. Can someone help me?

As you've run into, there's a learning curve as well as the need to review all settings, modes, schedules and geofencing setups. Start here:

https://kb.arlo.com/000062777/About-Arlo-Routines-Modes-Rules-and-Automations

It may be faster to simply delete those GF automations and create new ones. Click on Automations at the top, followed by the "+" sign at the top right. Choose Add Arrive/Leave and set up a new Arrive as well as a new Leave as appropriate. I've had better luck with using Specific People rather than Everybody but try each to suit your needs. Be sure to name each automation at the top - it's easy to miss that you need to do that.

I'll give it a try as you said. Just know I have specific people as well instead of everyone. Which is my wife and I. But I have my old phones still save and I can't delete any of them. They are just not clicked.

Go to Settings, Data Privacy, Account, Availaable Geofence Devices to see if you can delete them there. It's hit and miss as to whether that will work.

I tried doing as you requested. Is a mess. Still doesn't work. Here is a photo of what I'm asking just for leave (when no one is home). But it's not letting me choose if I want to record when it's either sound or motion. I can't figure it out.

And then it still shows both as disable.

It looks like you're trying too hard. First, remove those actions for recording from the different cameras. Just use the Arm Away mode.

However, your screenshots show that Leave and Home geofencing automations are disabled. You'll need to enable those before anything works. I suspect that in your schedules (or possibly in your GF settings) you've gone into the Always Enabled section at the top and chosen to disable them. For the time being, leave the default settings alone until you're trying to solve an issue.

@Toledori - I agree you are "trying to hard".  You just schedule (and geofence) modes.  Nothing else.

Here is something you can use as a guide for scheduling:

Sunrise.jpeg

Sunset.PNG

although you likely will want to modify the times.  The idea is that you reserve "Arm Away" for geofencing, and only schedule switching between "Arm Home" and "Standby".  You can modify all these modes, so "Standby" doesn't have to disarm all your cameras.

Pay attention to the enable list (right below the automation names).  You need to enable these automations in both Arm Home and Standby - but NOT enable them in Arm Away.

Geofencing should look like this:

Leave.png

Standby Arrive.png

Again, matching the enable lists is important.

Note you have to pick one mode to switch to when you arrive.  The screenshot is using "Standby" for this.  You could use "Arm Home" if that is more convenient.  Either way, you will have to manually switch the system to "Standby" or "Arm Home" sometimes if you want the system to immediately follow your schedule.  If you forget, the system will still switch modes at the trigger times in the schedule automations. But that will take a while (generally until the next day).

Well, thank for the help. I can't use schedule due to my wife and I having different work schedule that changes weekly when we leave and arrive. So for that matter I need just pure simple geofencing and detecting whenever we are either home or not. As I stated before, it was just simple. I click on geofencing, follow the steps. And done. Never had an issue for yrs. Since I had them. But darn this new update. It just freaking sucks.

It is different, and I agree it is a step backwards.

I get the geofencing piece.  What we need to know to provide more help is how you want the cameras to behave when you are home.  Can you provide some details on that?

Here are the settings I want.

Home

Outside cameras (3 which includes doorbell) record motion

Inside camera (2) only respond with sound (babies room)

When not home (Leave)

I want the outside cameras (3) record motion

Inside cameras (2) sound and motion

So no scheduling?  All cameras are armed all the time, but the inside cameras have motion detecton turned off when you are home (but not when you are away)?

Exactly. No scheduling. Due to our conflict of work schedule that changes weekly. Scheduling would be a no for us. Just pure simple geofencing

Here is an update of my current settings. But as you can see on my dashboard. It always shows as AWAY. never changes.

A quick question - are both phones' apps always logged in? If not, GF won't work. You need to at least open the app every 2 weeks at a minimum to stay logged in. Then just background it - don't log out.

Yes both phones as logged in. My wife opens the app daily whenever she sees a notification as I do. Also, here is another photo, so I manually had to change the mode and when I did, this is what happened.

When I clicked at arm home, the away now shows disable and I can't figure out how to enable it.

Look through your mode rules as well as your automations. Near the top, under the label, should be a section called Always Enabled. If it lists at least one item other than Always Enabled, go into there and enable all. Did that re-enable it?

So I have a few photos above, like post 12 or 13 and in the it shows under automation, when home it's arm home both and top and both. And when away is arm away both on the top option and bottom. Is that what you mean?

The "Arm Away" right under under the "Away" automation name is "Enable List".  The automation only runs if the system is already in one of the modes in the "Enable List".  So this one only runs when the system is already in Arm Away.

Change this list so that the automation is enabled in Arm Home, Standby.

Note the action (changing to "Arm Away" is correct, so leave that part as it is.

This one also has the wrong enable list.  "Arrive" should only run when the system is in "Arm Away" mode.  So change this list to "Arm Away"

Again, the action (switching to "Arm Home") is fine, so leave that as it is.

Thanks for the update. Here are some photos after the changes you subjected. Still not responding to geofencing correctly. As you can see under Away, it still shows disabled.

It's disabled because the system is already in Arm Away mode.  Try putting the system into Arm Home, and it will be enabled.

Also, turn on the location in/out notifications on both phones, and see if they both detect when you leave the radius.
