So I purchased an Arlo pro 3 a while but didn’t end up using until recently. The charging adapter that came with it is missing so now I’m charging it through usb with an random cord.  The camera indicates it’s blinking blue followed by 2 red lights and a click.  Does this mean that it’s not charging?

I can only assume that the fact that the battery is dead is the reason why I’m having trouble setting up the cameras to the hub.

There are no red leds, but the amber can appear red.  Slow blinking amber could indicate a low battery, and it will power down if the battery is very low.

Are you sure you have a Pro 3?  How are you charging it without the magnetic cable?

FWIW, the newest cameras that charge with microUSB are the Essential and the Essential Spotlight.  They are sealed (the battery is not user replaceable), and the charging connection is covered by a flap.  If you lift the flap, you'd see a QR code and a serial number.

The camera was a kit that came with a hub and 2 cameras in 2k.  I tried charging it with a microusb but it hard to determine the indicator is accurate or it’s meaning.  The model of the camera is VMS4040p.

I also bought a solar panel charger but it’s taking a little too charge.  Also when charging it with solar charger there is no indicator.

The S in VMS normally indicates a system bundle, not an individual camera.  The Pro 3 camera has the part number VMC4040p.  You'll either see that inside the camera, or you'll see Pro 3.

Where did you connect the microusb?  The charging port is proprietary, and looks nothing like a microusb port.

I think that is a diagnostic port - not sure if it is set up to charge the battery.  Perhaps @JamesC can find out.

You might want to get the correct cable.  This one includes both the cable and the charger:

You can find some cheaper third-party stuff, but based on posts here, the reliability is hit-or-miss.

not a charging port on the Ultra... believe the same for that camera.

that port usu has a snap on cover over it.

As mentioned by StephenB above, Arlo Pro 3 cameras are designed to be charged using the magnetic charging cable. When charging the camera, please use the included magnetic charging cable, or an officially supported Arlo magnetic charging cable.
