I don't believe you need a subscription to just get alerts. The sub is basically for cloud recordings.

Yep thanks just figured that out, not about to pay a high monthly sub for these expensive cameras, Going soon to a wired in system that i can monitor without any SUB . Arlo is worthless for what they charge for these cams. It should all be included going to your own google cloud . They do give some sense of security
