hello,
i have had this system about a year and a half and i am on about my 5th usb flash drive. Is there any reason that the base station keeps destroying the local storage? between that and the batteries lasting 1 or 2 days maximum, this hasn’t been the greatest of choices of camera.

I'm still using the same drives on my hubs with no issues. It's possible that something about the hub's USB port has an issue but I suspect it's either the specific drives and/or how they're being handled. Are you using the Safely Eject selection to eject the drive or just pulling it out? Have you checked the drive on a computer, especially with any software that the drive manufacturer(s) may provide? Have you reformatted the drive in a computer as well as checking for errors?
