After my cameras detect motion and record the video, it says that I it is detecting motion but not recording. The only way that I can get it to detect motion is to go into the app and view live mode and stop it, then it will detect motion again, I have to do this every time that is goes off

Have you tried to reboot the base station & test again? What firmware version is your cameras & base station running?
