I am having problems keeping the ARLO Base Station connected to the Internet through a WiFi Extender with Ethernet port, and it is causing me to rethink my security reliance on ARLO. I have a remote house with very strong Verizon LTE but no available high speed Internet, so I use a WiFi extender linked to a Verizon hot spot (Jetpack). The problem is that the ARLO Base Station will drop off the Internet that is coming through an Ethernet cable from the extender. It is random and usually requires me to reset the station, but that means no security until I get back to the house. I don’t have this problem with my Bridge (WiFi connected to the Jetpack) or with a weather station that is also using the Ethernet from the extender. I have tried two brands of extender (NETGEAR, Amped), and switched out cables, but it remains unreliable. The base station was 100% reliable when I used it at another home with high speed Internet so it seems ARLO does not like something about the Internet coming out of the extender and responds by dropping off the Internet. If I can’t solve this, I am afraid I am going to switch systems which is a shame with my investment (5 cameras, 3 lights, 2 doorbells). Any clues ?!? Thx!

What happens when the base drops off - what are the base LEDs showing?

The middle (Internet) light goes out. The weather station interface sitting right next to it using the other Ethernet port shows a good internet connection and never drops. Thx.

Swap the ports and cables between the base and weather station to see if the same thing happens.

If I swap ports on the dual-port Amped extender, the weather station indicates after a few seconds that it has good internet. Interestingly, so does the ARLO, so simply cutting and restoring the Ethernet does not cause me to have to reset the base station. If the pattern holds, I expect it to drop off in anywhere from 5 minutes to 48 hours so it has to be something in signal (?). I know the Jetpack can have temporary issues, but I wouldn’t think that is the problem since the extender would just grab the signal back when it can. Note that I am on my third WiFi extender (2 single port NETGEAR units and now the dual port amped).
The best workaround I can come up while I am investigating alternatives is to put the base station on a timer and temporarily cutoff/restore power once or more a day. That way, when I leave this week, it cant keep me offline ffor the whole time I am gone.
Thx.
