This is new and sold via Amazon and it is an Arlo product, but Arlo does not advertise or talk about it.
What are the advantages of buying this new Base Station vs the old one ?

the round model ( 3500 ) does not have a siren... it is an older model ( or a lesser version that was sold thru costco or similar ).
I would look for another 4000 model like you have over the 3500

That looks like the model 3500 base unit...
The advantages of having a second base is expanding coverage ( it is the only true way to do so , link closest cams to each base ) and allows you to run multi schedules ( like inside/outside, front / back ).
Downside is they must be armed separately

Thanks, but I was planning on buying this to replace my old base station (VMB4000-100NAS). The more recently released model is less expensive, and being new I was hoping for improvements. Do you think this new model can replace or be used as a stand-alone as opposed to being used as a second base to expand coverage ?

The VMB4000 has an alarm.
Does the VMB3500?
