According to the documentation:

Optional 24/7 CVR
Upgrade to keep nonstop recordings in the cloud when the camera is plugged in and used indoors

I have an Arlo Pro system with 4 cameras.  I'd like one of my, outdoor, cameras to run 24x7/CVR.  Just want to add on a Pro 2 camera.  I have power on the inside wall of my garage right where the camera will be outside.

Plan was to simply drill a USB-sized hole in the wall, plug it in and silicon caulk it in place for water-proofing.

Any thoughts on using it in this manner?  Not sure of the "indoor DVR only" statement...

CVR doesn't require the camera to be indoors.

I'm not seeing that restriction in the various KB articles - can you let us know where you are seeing it?

I pasted the relevant text in the original post.  Presuming it's more a warranty thing and their power solution is not weather proof.  But if I caulk it up right, I'm thinking it should work fine.

Thoughts?

@JamesC - this should probably be updated, since the VMA4900 outdoor charger is available and compatible with the Pro 2.  While I'm on the subject, the VMA4900 isn't listed as an accessory when you filter for Pro 2 here: https://www.arlo.com/en-us/products/accessories.aspx

It will work fine.  FWIW, there was an issue with their outdoor charger (VMA4700), which was recalled.  The VMA4900 resolves those issues, and is weatherproof.  It's possible that the text you quote goes back to when the VMA4700 was taken off the market.

There shouldn't be a warranty issue if you use the Arlo outdoor charger - there could be if you use a third party charger I guess.

As a PS...if your using the outdoor power supply ( model 4900 ) sealing the usb port shouldn't be an issue...

Tho I do use a wipe on the plug of silicon ( NOT contacts but on sealing area )  grease to make sure all stays waterproof.
