In a  clumsy moment I accidentally hit "remove device" and deleted my base station, a VMB4000.  I added the base station back to the account and got my Pro3 back on line.  However, my Pro2 and Pros refuse to re-sync.  These of course still had the 7 day free recordings library.  I noticed that the SSID changed from Netgear xxxxx to Arlo_VMB xxx.  So some kind of firmware update happened with the re-install.  Did this firmware update also phase out the older non-subscription cameras, since they now refuse to sync?  Just wondering if my Pro2 and Pros are now junk or not.  Thanks.

My pro2 cameras still work but am not going to remove them in case they do go missing.

There have been a few recent reports of similar behaviour, have you tried using the arlo web portal to import them, also try using the manual sync procedure.

Regards the wifi ssid change, this occurred a few years ago and the base gets updated automatically with no notification so it would have been last updated a month or so ago.

Thanks.  For some reason my SSID just changed when I accidentally deleted the base station. I have no idea why it still showed NETGEAR so long after the update you mentioned.  I did finally get the older cameras to sync by continually attempting it manually with the sync buttons.  It took 8-10 tries per camera, but they finally did sync up.  However, they do occasionally drop back off line, so their performance is unreliable and far from optimal.  It seems like the most reliable performance comes from the two cameras that I have on paid subscription, a Pro2 and Pro3.

No.

That's interesting. I have a Pro2 camera which I removed and was trying to re-add but without success.

It might not be deliberate on Arlo's part but there may be something in this.  I was tempted to completely reset my whole system but I'm certainly not going to do that at the moment in case I'm left with nothing.  At least I have three working cameras at the moment!

Update:

I ditched my ISP provided router and bought my own ASUS router. They system is working much better in terms of things staying on line.  Lately though I have been having issues with the Pro3 in my setup cutting off recordings prior to the full minute it is set for when activated.  It isn’t going off line, just cutting recordings short it seems.  Same with live view, it seems to want to stop the live view long before it would normally time that out. Oddly enough, it is the closest camera to the base station.  About 20 feet away through a window.  The others (4 Pros and 1 Pro2) seem to be doing fine.

Make sure you have the Base station away from the router modem by at least 4ft.

If you’re getting short recordings on a camera you can set the recordings length to manual in the active mode’s camera rule to confirm the record function is working correctly.

If you suspect you’re getting signal dropouts try doing a manual recording, it should let you record for 30mins, then review the library recording for any display or audio hiccups.

Additionally you can also have signal disturbances between the router and your mobile device, this can occur because the arlo Base piggy backs on the router wifi network channel which has been suffering meshing issues for some time now.
