Can someone please send me screenshots of your settings if your system actually works. I want an overnight arm away schedule, a daytime arm home schedule and also arm away when my husband and I are both gone. This should be so difficult!

You need to dedicate Arm Away to geofencing, and not use it in your schedule.

Can you give more details on how many cameras you have, and what you want armed during the day?

5 cameras. 4 outside and 1 inside.  For arm home I want all outside cameras active, only difference with arm away is I also want the inside camera active. So during the day arm home unless we are both gone. Arm away every night.

Again, if you want geofencing+scheduling to work automatically (as well as it can), then you need to ONLY use Arm Away when you are AWAY FROM HOME.  It CANNOT be part of your schedule.

You have two options -

  1. Set up Arm Away and Arm Home as you are thinking, but then go through several manual steps when you are away from home.  These would be to first disable the schedule automation to switch to Arm Home, and then manually switch to Arm Away.  Similarly, re-enable the schedule automation when you return.
  2. Set up Arm Home to arm all cameras (as Arm Away does).  Then modify Standby to arm the outdoor cameras.  You'd schedule Arm Home at night and Standby during the day, and set up geofencing to switch to Arm Away when you leave.  Returning home doesn't quite work right, you need to choose whether the Arrive automation will switch to Arm Home or Standby.  Either way, you would manually need to switch if you return home when the other mode is supposed to be active.

Let us know which you you want to proceed, and we can give you more tailored advice for that option.

FWIW, this is clearly a flaw that Arlo needs to fix.

Whoa this sounds above my pay grade. 🙂 I think option 2 maybe sounds easier? So please send detailed instructions for that and we’ll try it.

First you need to make sure that both Arm Home and Arm Away arm all of your cameras.  Then modify standby so that it arms all the outdoor ones.  Note that when a camera rule is missing from a mode, then that camera is disarmed whenever that mode is active.

Then you will need two schedule automations.  They look like this (though you can of course adjust the times as desired):

and this:

You will also need two geofencing automations.  One for when someone arrives:

<see next post>

And one for when everyone leaves:

"Leave" is always enabled in every mode.

Arrive didn't post - here it is:

With this "Arrive" automation, you will need to set the system manually to "Standby" if you come home during the day.  If you forget, the indoor camera will be armed, and remain that way until the next sunrise.
