  • With the launch of the new Mobile App, am I now going to lose access to my recordings?  I see now I am on a 31 day free trial.
  • Also, I have a second Pro 2 System at a vacation residence that I had to set up under a different profile & then share with my current profile to view recordings & they have disappeared from my dashboard.
  • Please help.

As mentioned in these forums many times, all users for shared cameras, including the owners, must be using the same interface. Since you now have the new UI that uses Feed to view recordings, all the others must also migrate to that UI for sharing to work properly. To do so, each person should choose to install a Pro 5 even though they don't have one. The first step is to migrate the account to the new UI after which the install can be aborted. Then everyone needs to click on Home at the top and choose the bottom choice. Each user gets a default Home location so you have to choose the one for the person sharing the cameras. I suggest renaming Home to make it obvious.

Note that the new UI is significantly different so read this FAQ to get started:

    https://kb.arlo.com/000062777/About-Arlo-Routines-Modes-Rules-and-Automations

Also, you can't cancel the trial and it makes no difference as to normal operation. When the trial expires legacy cameras still have the free 7 day plan as before. Just don't activate any premium features (activity zones, etc.) or when the trial ends you'll get notified to get a subscription.

Free storage should continue after the trial expires.

So two accounts (not profiles).  Both accounts need to be updated to "Feed".  You can do that by logging into the vacation account.  Then start to add a Pro 5s camera.  That will of course fail, since you don't have the camera.  But the workflow will migrate the vacation account to "Feed" before you get stuck.

Later on, you could put both residences into a single account, since "Feed" supports multiple locations.  But you'd need to be at the vacation home to do that.

Thank you for your response.  I did find that legacy account holders do not require a subscription to use new app, just won't be able to access some of the new features.

Re: advice on how to see recordings from my vacation home.  I'm worried method you suggested is going to mess things up & I'm not wanting to travel the 3+ hours to vacation home if it somehow mess up connections.

My Arlo 2 account didn't upgraded (old design), but my shared original Arlo account did (new design overnight). Both accounts can't see each the other account's cameras. I tried adding without using wifi 2.4 Ghz network and use a smarthub, but got stuck.  This is annoying.

Also, how do I remove this free trial? I don't want it at all! Also, I figured out why I can't see the other cameras. I had two "Home"s as shown in my https://community.arlo.com/t5/Arlo/My-two-old-Arlo-accounts-were-updated-but-can-t-see-each-other/m-... post. I want to see both at the same time like the old design. 😞

One more glitch found - where can we view recordings marked as Favorites?  Used to be able to view the "stars" on recordings, but now they don't appear.

Programmers go back to old app PLEASE!

Good question. I found favorites, but it was extra work in my iPhone! In Feeds list, click on the top right icon showing a circled ..., feed settings, event types, deselect all,  select favorites filter type, press < in the top left corner, and save. To remove them, then you will have to repeat and use select all. See, awful usability design just to do something basic like the old basic design. 😞

@jguerdat

Thanks for your reply, but I don't understand.

My system at my vacation home hasn't been updated to the "new experience" yet.  From what I read in the FAQ, we have to wait for it to happen because these updates are being rolled out in phases to different areas.

My second question, is " how/ where do we view recordings that are marked as favorites"?  In the past, a "star" would ve visible on the recording in the library, but, they don't show up in the feed.

Thanks

The team is working on the favorites capabilites and their should be an improvement on this feature in the next few months. You can follow this thread here and I will be providing updates there. Please provide any concerns in that thread, so we can keep this thread isolated to the original discussion.

You can force the migration by logging in to the vacation home account, and starting to add a Pro 5s camera.  While that will fail without the camera, the account will be migrated to "Feed" before you get stuck.
