I was about to buy the Arlo Pro 2 security camera system until I was browsing around and saw that D-Link had announced a very similar system to that of the Arlo Pro 2. Their package includes 1080p, rechargable batteries, 7 day free cloud storage, etc. Even their camera form factor is very similar.
I assume that these camera system originates from a single manufactorer? So what sets NetGear apart from D-Link?

Wow, the form factor is quite Arlo-esque. The D-Link aren't available yet so I'm assuming they'll be going through some beta testing at the moment.
Hopefully, the competition will keep prices down and make sure everything works as it should. That said, Arlo has more of an ecosystem with smart home integration for Africa. The D-Link is still an unknown as to how it works and how well it works. 11 months battery life is a big promise, especially with analytics onboard. I have little doubt they'll have teething issues in the same vein as Arlo. We'll have to wait and see
