New to Arlo cameras. Ours is set up at our front door and captures a flag pole and waving flag. Does this mean that it is on all the time because of the waving flag. If we move it slightly to remove the waving flag, will it then only capture video when it detects movement? Will this then increase the battery life?

Oh yes.  The same for tree branches, wind driven yard “adornments”, the surface of water, fast moving clouds on bright sunny days,  bugs, birds, etc.  Position and sensitivity matters.

The more movement the more recordings and the less the battery life.

30x10 second recordings a day should lead to a couple of months of battery life.

So yes, reposition to get the flag out of the picture and your battery life will improve.
