To make a long story short, I bought Arlo because my 8 year old stepson has threatened to tell people I abuse him when he doesn’t get his way and no one else is home.
I didn’t realize that I would have to plug in to get CVR, but that makes sense I suppose.
Is there a way to just get it to record everything including audio while there is motion and still remain wireless?

Yes. You can try the Record Until Motion Stops option in your modes or use an appropriate length of time to try to capture everything.
And consider therapy for your stepson.

For CVR to work you need to have the cameras plugged into AC power.
By default, the cameras will record whenever there is motion or video. You won't necessarily get a recording though, as the recording may stop and start.
There are cameras from other manufacturers that record a continuous loop to an on-board SD memory card or to local network attached storage. Something like this might meet your needs better.
