If you have a subscription, then you can filter animal notifications - but all motion events are still recorded.
If the animals are fairly small, you could try adjusting the motion threshold: https://kb.arlo.com/41/How-do-I-change-the-motion-sensitivity-on-my-Arlo-camera
Or try to adjust the camera position, so the animals are further away, or not in the field of view. One trick here is to invert the cameras, and then use the rotate 180 degrees setting in the video settings. Generally, Arlo cameras are more sensitive to motion at the bottom of the field of view, and inverting the camera shifts that to the top.
Activity zones can also help - supressing recordings for out-of-zone motion in the Arlo cloud. However, that won't help battery life, as the cameras are still streaming when out-of-zone motion is detected.
