Can't hardwire the base station to router/cable modem, what are my options?

As I understand the set up, I will need to hard wire the base station to my router or cable modem? If that is the case, neither my router or modem has a ethernet spot available. What are my options?

The cheapest way to do that would be to purchase an wifi extender with an ethernet socket.
