I am having connectivity issues with the cameras that are currently in WiFi dead zones. Is the best solution to purchase extenders (I have Xfinity 1 GIG speed) and leave the base hard wired to the Gateway Router modem (which is in one corner of house) or should I move the base to a more central location and connect it directly into one the extenders? I am also planning on adding a second base too

Remember that Arlo sets up its own wireless network and the cameras all connect via that network back to the base. It make no use of your existing wifi network.
If you have cameras that are too far away from the base then as you said, one option is to move the base to a more central position, the other is to add a second base the other side of the house and then to link some cameras to that base and the others to the other base.
