Can cameras record all the time? And if so, can i record to external hard drive?

If you have the CVR paid option, then yes it records all the time ( must be on ac ).

You can not record directly to an external HD as it is cloud based only ( tho any motion detected triggers will be sent to the usb backup drive(if set up) and the library )
