Out of the five cameras I have, three are on battery power. The battery in one of those runs down much, much faster than the others.

I always see some videos of absolutely nothing moving. Why is it turning on and operating with no movement?
When I pulled the USB thumb drive to check it I found many videos of nothing moving, sometimes one right after another.
I have greatly reduced the relevant settings to the point that it will not pick up motion when needed but the batteries continue to drain quickly. (Trying several different batteries as well)

I took the liberty of emailing some videos to the “askarlo” address hoping someone would get back to me but I have had no response from the person I addressed it to (Shayne). Should I have posted here first and waited for him to ask?

I was hoping for a response from this source as phoning in to customer support is really kind of useless as we all know. They only ask you to do the Arlo dance,

“did you un pair and re pair, did you reboot the base station, is you wifi strong, can you chew gum and talk at the same time....”.  The usual stuff!

The “askarlo” got me a very quick response once before so I tried that route but no luck yet.

So that worked well.
I relocated the camera so as not to have the reflection from the window and surrounding framework. That was a few days ago and my fresh battery is still at 100% this morning. That’s a relief.

Just to add to my post above, I often see the motion detection icon amber but can not launch the live stream to see what is causing the camera to activate.  Even if I am near by and I happen to be looking at something else on the app and notice the amber motion icon on, when I go to that area to see what is going on there is no motion yet the motion icon is still amber.

Sometimes I even need to turn that camera off and back on and that seems to reset the motion icon to black.

An suggestions? I have removed and re paired several times.

The battery issue is due to the total number of minutes of recording and live viewing you're encountering. It can be exacerbated by poor signal strength/quality between the base and camera.

Make sure you're turning motion sensitivity down in your modes and rules, not the motion detection test. The idea that no motion is seen in the recordings may be due to various things such as rapidly moving birds or insects or just due to the sun's strong IR being reflected by cars, trees, bushes, etc. Proper camera positioning to eliminate these items from the camera's view can make a huge difference. If not familiar with all of this, read the FAQs on these and many other topics in the support area here.

Yes I was wondering about the IR reflections.
Looking at the included screen shot ( ignore the person, I picked it for the intense reflection as an example only) could this be the cause of my many unwanted videos?

It could be the reflection off the window looking at the photo. Not sure if that is what you saw.

It coukld in fact be the reflection from the window. If something causes the IR to vary sufficiently (clouds, airplanes, etc.) it will be detected as "movement".

Well I moved it to a different location so I will see how long the battery lasts now.
I’ll post results as soon as I can tell how fast it’s draining
