Just bought the 6th Arlo pro2 and add in to test it. After add it in and every is connected, it put up this device is inactive (need subscription to active). So, in order to test this 6th device, do I have to remove one my my 5 devices and then this new 6th will automatically active?

Furthermore, how many cameras is allowed for free 7 days on cloud store?

hope to have prompt advise from community. Thanks

The limit is 5 unsubscribed cameras per account.  Note all of the currently sold models require a subscription to get any cloud storage.

There is a hack, which is to create a second account and share the cameras with the "friend" account feature.  But that would require you to migrate your existing account to the new "Feed" interface, which has some significant drawbacks.

OP, you can disable 1 old camera to test the new one. However, if you want all cameras to be active you'll need at least 1 single camera plan.

I believe you have to get a code or something from Arlo if the set was 6 cameras (I.e. not you buying 6 cameras separately but as a set, i.e. six pack 😹). Check previous posts where this is explained well. I'm tagging @StephenB as he knows better and can advise if there are any problems.

As one who was around since nearly the beginning of Arlo, the 6 camera Pro set does indeed require a code to be used during system setup. That was a very limited set and can't be somehow utilized for any other setup.

Just did as your advice and I can test the 6th device (my new bought). Also well noted that Arlo just allow free for 5 cameras. After this testing, realized that the next 6th camera need to be subscribed to use.
Thank you so much for your and other advices in this community to support me in this matter.

I would just buy a used base station off eBay for $30 to $50. Then add that base station to arlo using different email address. Then add 6th camera to new base station. Then go into Settings and "Grant Access" to the camera from the other base station/email address.

I have 19 PRO2s spread over 4 base stations. In the app (and desktop) I see all cameras without issue and it is totally seamless.

Of course, now that PRO2s are EOL I wouldn't be surprised to see a subscription being required for continued cloud recordings so it may not be worth it if you'll end up having to get a subscription anyway.

Speaking of "the new "Feed" interface, which has some significant drawbacks" do you know if it's possible to get a subscription for my existing PRO2 cameras but NOT "upgrade" to the new (and inferior) "FEED" interface?

AFAIK getting a subscription will not migrate you to the feed interface.  I'm tagging @JamesC so he can clarify.

That said, there are some subscription features (person and vehicle recognition, custom detection) that would only be available with "Feed".

Also, everyone will end up on "Feed" eventually.  Hopefully Arlo will address the drawbacks before that happens.
