Hi, everybody,

I want to install motion detector in my bedroom (no camera). I wonder what motion detectors are available on the market that work with Arlo Pro 2? I have read that Samsung has motion detectors that might work with Arlo, but don't know how easy it is to connect them

And is there much value in motion detectors? Yes, they will detect motion, pass me notification, but I won't see what is going on. Can at least I hear the sound of what is going on? I wonder what if I hear something because the wind blows through the window left open, or I may suspect an open window picks up the noise while an intruder is inside

Thanks

In all honesty, just why not use the camera in the bedroom....

It will record audio and video so you know what's going on ( since your not there ). When you are there, it is simple to either turn OFF the camera or Disarm, OR , turn it to the wall ( like I do ) .

If your looking for just motion, the only way to maybe achieve that is with an IFTTT setup

Turning to the wall is not practical - I will forget it from time to time. Switching it off - I don’t feel comfortable with a device that can monitor me. I realise that it should not on grofencing, but glitches do happen. Including today - I thought I set geofencing well, but it recorded my wife at home. I don’t want such things happening

You can set the camera to Do Nothing so no recording is made.

Thanks. Could you advice me how I can set up to Do Nothing? I cannot find it on my camera
P.S. checked internet - Do Nothing seems to switch off the camera completely, while I still want motion detection, but with disabled video. My camera allows Activity Zone, but again it still records

What do you want the camera to do then?

Send an alert would seem to be the only option.

Ideally, I wouldn’t use camera - only a sensor for movement will suffice.

You can buy an Arlo Security light and use it as a motion sensor. The light contains a passive Infrared motion sensor and no camera or microphone.  The motion alerts can be pushed to your phone, just like the camera alerts.  The light can be used to trigger recording on Arlo cameras in the house. You do not need to turn the light on when motion is detected, but you can.
