It is impossible for me to store videos in the cloud. So what I need to know is,what kind of external hard drive should I get to store videos on. I read where Arlo will only store 2T of videos off line before it starts overwriting. So should I get two 2T hard drives to rotate or just stick with one. I have satellite internet that costs me $160 a month for 30G of data, this is why I can’t store videos in the cloud.

You'd need to set the system up using the Internet and then pull the Ethernet cable. As long as you have USB recordings set up, events will be recorded locally. However, to view them you would have to pull the drive uncleanly from the base so you can view them on a computer. If so, run a file system check to keep the file system intact. Plus, you won't be able to change modes or do anything with the system until you plug it back into the router.
It would work but wouldn't be very satisfactory.
